I always thought success stories were reserved for athletic gods—people who run marathons, scale mountains, or at least breeze through a 5K. My story is different. It’s a work in progress, and it started slowly.

It took me months to walk into the Center office and ask for help. It felt like asking the Navy SEALs to get me off the couch. I felt silly, out of place, and overwhelmed by the gym and all its complicated machines. With a knee injury that made even driving difficult, I thought working out was out of reach.

Then I met my trainer, Isaiah. Everything changed. I went from occasionally showing up to consistently working out twice a week for over a year. No matter when I find time for myself, Isaiah is there with a plan tailored just for me. He was mindful of my knee and helped me strengthen it, so I forgot which one was injured.

I was intimidated by the weight machines, which always seemed to be taken by super-fit athletes. But Isaiah encouraged me to face that fear. He met me where I was and guided me, step by step. Sure, there’s tons of information online, but nothing compares to having a trainer who truly understands your needs.

He’s taught me about nutrition, muscle function, and how sleep and food affect motivation. He never judges, just calmly encourages. Some days, when I’ve eaten poorly or barely slept, we have our “have mercy” workouts. Other days, when I think I can’t lift a penny, he gets me to push just a little further—and I surprise myself. This past month, I leg-pressed 100 lbs. I never imagined I could do that.

Weightlifting has changed my life. I now have energy after long workdays to enjoy time with my family. This past year, we’ve traveled to Alaska, Mexico, and Montreal, and I’ve kept up with every packed itinerary.

Good health truly touches every part of your life. Gyms like RWJ and trainers like Isaiah are quietly starting a revolution—making weightlifting accessible, especially for women like me who never thought it was possible. For that, I’m deeply grateful.
