I had had bariatric surgery and had lost significant weight, but I had been away from the gym for many years and was very weak. I have been doing resistance and strength training with Jake since early summer 2025. For the last several years before joining the Center, I limited my exercise to cardio, but I have been experiencing increasing skeletal muscle issues. My orthopedist and physical therapist strongly suggested that I get back to a regular strength-training program. That’s where Jake came into the picture. While this hasn’t been a miracle cure, it wasn’t going to be at my age. I have significantly less back pain and greater balance and stamina, which I consider a win.

My daughter, Tracy, has participated in the adapted wellness and fitness program with Jake for almost a year. Physical fitness is important to Tracy. Jake has provided her with the instruction and support that have allowed her to build strength, endurance, and self-confidence.

Tracy says that Jake is kind, funny, and talkative. She truly looks forward to her twice-weekly sessions. She is learning to use machines and to perform floor exercises properly to prevent injury.

I find Jake to be easy to communicate with and very approachable. I feel that he is both sensitive and empathetic to my daughter’s “special needs”. He has reassured me of his experience and training.

The AWE program and Jake have helped foster Tracy’s independence and add to her quality of life by providing a welcoming, safe, and inclusive community environment. She is so happy to belong to a gym and have a trainer.

Jake has been my trainer for about 10 months. The training experience has been tremendous. At the very start, Jake noticed that my right side was weaker than my left, and he tailored a training system to address and improve this imbalance. Based on dumbbells, kettlebells, and single-leg machine reps, we made the necessary progress! Jake then developed a lineup of deadlifts, leg extensions, delt, pecs, and lat exercises that fit my needs. It feels so good to notice weekly set/rep/pound progress, and also definite progress in Concept Erg2 regatta progress! He clearly understands the importance of strength development and maintenance for a senior citizen.

I’d like to mention that in addition to being technically superb, Jake brings a friendly, caring, and thoughtful personality to each meeting. Jake is a fantastic fitness professional and a great guy, who is a positive asset to the Center!

Before working with Jake, I wouldn’t have known what muscles to work and exercises to do each visit. Additionally, I wasn’t very strong, and my muscles were not noticeable at all. Even dealing with minor injuries here and there, as well as a significant muscle imbalance, Jake helped big time! My muscle imbalance, while not completely fixed, is much better than it was. My strength continues to improve every week. My muscles, while not where I want them to be yet, are growing slowly. And even when dealing with an injury, Jake showed me a method to try, and it worked! Jake is great at what he does, very knowledgeable about fitness and health, and just a great guy to talk to or work out with. He even provided me with workouts to do on days we didn’t meet. Easily one of the best trainers there and in my opinion the best. Highly recommend and thank you, Jake!

Jake has been a huge part in helping me achieve my fitness and weight goals. We train once a week, sometimes twice, and it has seriously improved my overall health. I’ve lost weight and, along with that, have started gaining muscle for the first time in my life. He takes his time creating workout routines to make sure I, along with his other clients, see the best results in ourselves after each and every session.
